Your data

Delete your Temp Mail addresses and data

Your data is tied to the app on your phone and, if you created one, to your optional TempGenerator account. You can erase it yourself in a few taps, and most of it deletes itself on schedule anyway. This page applies to the Temp Mail app by TempGenerator on Google Play.

Delete your account

  • In the app: Settings › Account › Delete account. Enter your password and your username, then tap Delete my account forever.
  • On the web: sign in at tempgenerator.com, open Account and choose Delete my account.

Your account, your custom addresses and all their mail are deleted right away, and every phone is signed out. Your address names stay locked, no longer linked to you, so nobody can ever receive mail meant for you. Can’t sign in? Reset your password with a code first, or send us a deletion request from your account email.

Erase this phone’s data

  1. Open Temp Mail and tap the settings button at the top of the inbox.
  2. Under Your data, tap Forget all addresses.
  3. Confirm with Forget all.

Your device record and the addresses bound to it, with all their mail, are erased from our server right away. The app also tries to delete any older addresses it made, and clears its address list and cached files on your phone. Your settings, such as theme and language, stay until you uninstall the app. If you’re signed in, this also signs this phone out. Your account and the addresses you made while signed in stay until you delete the account (below).

Delete a single address

Tap the addresses button at the top of the inbox, pick an address and tap Delete now. The address and its mail are erased from our server immediately. To prevent abuse, deleting has a short cooldown. Remove from this phone only forgets the address on your phone: our server deletes it when it expires.

If you’ve already uninstalled the app

Removing the app deletes everything it stored on your phone. The data on our server deletes itself: mail when each address expires (after 60 minutes, or at most 30 days; an address you chose keeps its mail until it ends), and the device record 60 days after its last activity once no address is left. To have it erased sooner, send us a deletion request with the addresses you used. Without an account, we can only find data by address, and only while the address still exists. With an account, the addresses you chose stay until you delete the account; do that on tempgenerator.com (above). We complete requests within 30 days.

What is deleted, and what is kept

  • Deleted: your addresses, every message and attachment in them, your device record (device ID, key hash, platform, app version, registration IP address and last activity), the address list and cached files on your phone, and, with an account, your account (username, email, password hash, language), your sign-ins on every phone, and your custom addresses with their mail.
  • Kept for a limited time: reward confirmations (transaction ID, reward type and device ID) for 30 days; name requests (name, domain, days, device and account) for 30 days; web server logs for 14 days; database backups for up to 30 days; and your deletion request itself (your name, email address and message) for 12 months after we answer it, after which it is deleted automatically. Kept permanently: the list of used address names (only name, domain, source and dates), so that no address is ever given to a second person. After your account is deleted, your names stay locked and are no longer linked to you.
  • Held by Google: ad data collected by Google AdMob, as explained below.
